The video places G3 and N3 between the capital ships completed during the First World War, including Hood, and the treaty-era Nelson and Rodney. One way to divide the earlier British dreadnought sequence is into Dreadnought, Orion, and Queen Elizabeth generations. The unbuilt postwar designs form a missing fourth step before treaty restrictions imposed new compromises. Because no unmodified British examples of that generation entered service, their combat value has to be reconstructed from plans rather than operations. G3 and N3 show how the Washington system interrupted an evolving design sequence rather than starting one from nothing.
