C-class AA conversions gain internal room

Replacing six old boilers with perhaps two 850 psi units could turn the C-class anti-aircraft conversion into a much more extensive machinery and weapons redesign.

Notes

The C-class cruisers already required their interiors to be opened for conversion into anti-aircraft ships. That work creates an unusual opportunity to replace six boilers with perhaps two high-pressure units while preserving or increasing the roughly 40,000-shaft-horsepower output. The released weight and volume could support additional weapons, protection, or other improvements within an old hull. Propulsion savings could turn a marginal modernization project into a much more ambitious conversion.
