Reported Type 83 and Type 32 cancellations raise questions about both fleet replacement and the work needed to sustain Rosyth. A joint amphibious-ship project built in Dutch yards would not automatically keep the British yard occupied. The same infrastructure problem applies to proposals for more drones without extra satellites or other supporting investment. Buying F-35As could also introduce costs because Britain has already built support infrastructure for F-35Bs and would need to provide for the different variant. These are preliminary criticisms of reported proposals; the Defence Investment Plan has yet to be read.
