UAD British and German treaty battleship designs

A game demonstration pits an all-forward British 15-inch design against German ships whose nine 11-inch guns reflect early-1930s industrial constraints.

Notes

The German design is built around nine 11-inch guns because those weapons were available sooner than a new heavy-gun program, while the British approximation uses 15-inch guns and an all-forward arrangement inspired by the G3 and Nelson lineage. The game hulls and armor make exact treaty displacement difficult, so the models illustrate design direction rather than precise historical plans. The British battery saves weight compared with 16-inch guns and could support common development for older 15-inch ships. Its Dido-like five-inch secondary battery is concentrated aft: four twin mounts can bear to either beam and five can cover astern, but only two can fire forward. That imbalance is partly a game-mechanics compromise rather than a finished treaty design.
