Would converting a Nelson-class battleship into an aircraft carrier make sense?
Short answerNo. The ships were far too slow, and overcoming that basic limitation would defeat the point of a conversion.
NotesA large battleship hull does not automatically make a useful carrier conversion. Nelson and Rodney were too slow to maneuver with fast fleet units or add much ship-generated wind over the deck. Correcting that limitation would require rebuilding the machinery and much of the hull rather than simply replacing guns with aviation spaces. The conversion would consume major effort while leaving the platform poorly matched to carrier operations.
