Larger treaty ships widen Germany's industrial gap

A G3-sized treaty standard would preserve Allied shipbuilding capacity while forcing Germany to restart from much farther behind.

Notes

If completed G3s set a treaty ceiling near 50,000 tons with 16.5-inch guns, Britain, the United States, Japan, France, and Italy would keep infrastructure sized for that larger generation. Germany would re-enter capital-ship construction after its industrial base had fallen farther behind those standards. Even Bismarck was smaller than a deep-load G3, while Scharnhorst was smaller again and carried 11-inch guns. Matching the treaty powers would therefore demand major dockyard and industrial expansion rather than a simple enlargement of historical German designs.
