The G3 orders halted by the Washington negotiations

Contemporary design figures show four 32-knot G3 battlecruisers ordered in 1921 before treaty negotiations stopped construction.

Notes

The G3 design combined nine 16-inch guns, sixteen 6-inch guns, 160,000 shaft horsepower, and a displacement near 47,540 standard tons. Canal dimensions and British dockyard facilities constrained its size. John Brown at Clydebank, Fairfield at Govan, Swan Hunter at Wallsend, and Beardmore at Dalmuir received orders in October 1921, demonstrating that the programme had moved beyond a paper study. Washington negotiations suspended the work the next month, and the contracts were cancelled in February 1922 before construction began.
