Building F3 would give Britain experience with the machinery needed for faster capital ships. Its initial boilers would be only slightly higher in pressure than Nelson's, with much of the extra power coming from having more of them. Further advances in boiler pressure would depend on the money and time available for development. Once capital ships could sustain the higher speed, planners would need to reconsider the operating speeds of cruisers, destroyers, and carriers serving with them. In this scenario, those requirements could become central to fleet design roughly a decade earlier.

F3 machinery could bring fleet speed requirements forward
More powerful capital ships could force earlier attention to escort and carrier speeds, although major boiler advances would still require investment.
