French aircraft and a larger carrier air arm

French carrier construction and a twin-engine naval aircraft could influence Allied carrier design and procurement.

Notes

Land-war demand would still claim most French and British aircraft production, because both air forces would prioritize the continuing front against Germany. Naval aviation might therefore rely on purchases from the United States or on additional factories established in India, Ceylon, Australia, or elsewhere beyond the European battle. France was considering a twin-engine carrier aircraft, creating pressure for ships able to handle greater span and weight. That requirement might produce larger lifts and hangars, encourage deck-edge lift experiments, and accelerate a Sea Mosquito-type concept.
