Chapter · 1:18:29-1:20:07

Taranto becomes a night-and-dawn carrier blow

With Soryu and possibly American carriers present, Taranto becomes a larger British night strike followed by a Japanese or Allied dawn attack.

Notes

The proposed Taranto attack begins with thirty-six British Swordfish at night. Fulmars would carry flares and bombs, allowing more Swordfish to concentrate on torpedo attacks. The larger fighter force makes it easier to risk some Fulmars away from fleet defence. A Japanese dawn strike follows, with American aircraft joining only in the version where an American carrier is present. British Fulmars might assist the dawn attack, while Swordfish participation remains uncertain. The sequence is expected to leave little of the Italian fleet operational.
