Fitting 4.5-inch, Bofors, and Oerlikon batteries around the main guns

Once the main battery and basic protection fit, the remaining displacement and deck space must accommodate the modernized ship's secondary and anti-aircraft weapons.

Notes

With the main battery and basic protection in place, the remaining tonnage goes to a 4.5-inch secondary battery and representations of Bofors 40 mm and Oerlikon 20 mm weapons. The game does not provide every exact mount, so nominal calibre and barrel length are adjusted to approximate the intended systems. The result is a layout exercise rather than a literal reconstruction. These smaller weapons still compete for deck space, firing arcs, and weight, and single mounts cannot fit in every desired position. The sequence shows how a modernization's anti-aircraft battery must fit around turrets and superstructure after the main-battery decisions are made.
