A Seahawk successor with locally controlled uncrewed teammates

The closing design question considers a crewed Seahawk successor that coordinates nearby uncrewed escorts for transport, ASW, and mine hunting without consuming scarce long-range bandwidth.

Notes

Repeated upgrades to familiar systems reduce the risk of introducing unproven technology, but the Seahawk family will eventually need a successor. One possible direction is a crewed rotorcraft paired with locally controlled uncrewed teammates, sometimes described as loyal wingmen. Helicopter teaming is arguably even more appropriate than the fast-jet pairings that attract more attention. An uncrewed gunship could move ahead of a troop transport and absorb some of the risk, while similar helpers could extend anti-submarine and mine-hunting work. Local coordination would reduce demand for satellite data and other scarce communications bandwidth. The replacement question concerns operational risk, distributed sensing, and command architecture as much as the new airframe itself.
