Modular mission-cab concepts for naval helicopters

The Seahawk's long service encouraged proposals for removable mission cabins, even though practical modularity stopped short of swapping complete containerized interiors.

Notes

The H-60 family's long service encouraged recurring proposals for a common aircraft with removable mission cabins. One US concept apparently envisaged lifting an ASW cabin in or out like a container, using a forklift or similar equipment. A British proposal would use a commando-style Merlin with a rear ramp so crews could roll a mission module on and off. Neither navy adopted complete container swapping. Many components did become modular, allowing the same basic aircraft to be tailored to different duties.
