Units already performed much of the proposed Ranger role before receiving a new badge and title. The institutional question is what additional capability the reorganization buys, rather than whether the selected soldiers are skilled. Both the Army and Royal Navy were being divided into small packets across too many tasks. A maritime-led posture would require more naval personnel and a larger escort force, so public-facing reform cannot substitute for capacity that matches the strategy.

Ranger branding does not solve force scarcity
Renaming specialist units cannot compensate for armed forces spread too thinly across commitments or for a navy without enough people and escorts.
