The Air Ministry could use engines developed through stronger naval demand. Spitfire and Hurricane equivalents might therefore receive about 1,600 horsepower in the scenario. The difference in earlier procurement priorities comes partly from how aircraft obtain their power: multi-engined designs can add engines, while a single-engined carrier aircraft must obtain more from one unit. Naval aircraft also carry survival and navigation equipment and need structures suitable for carrier landings. Improving the engines for those heavier requirements could benefit land-based aircraft as well.

Naval engine investment could also improve RAF fighters
Higher naval engine requirements could provide more powerful engines for Air Ministry aircraft too.
