Licensed production depended on the engines each factory could obtain, so the aircraft continued to change after Heinkel and Klemm's direct involvement ended. Finland built the W.33 as the IVL A.22 Hansa, using 300-horsepower Fiat engines because German engines were scarce. It became Finland's first mass-produced aircraft, with 120 eventually completed. Finnish service continued until 1936. Some aircraft carried Lewis guns, and some exchanged their floats for skis.
