Could CVA-01 operate the E-2 Hawkeye?

The proposed British carrier's deck-edge lift and flight-deck arrangement are tested against E-2 Hawkeye operations.

Question

How could CVA-01 solve the lift problem if the E-2 Hawkeye was too large?

Short answer

Modify the deck-edge lift and operating arrangement; the design appears adaptable enough to handle an E-2.

Notes

The E-2 would require attention to lift dimensions, but CVA-01's deck-edge arrangement makes adaptation plausible. The aircraft could use the starboard deck-edge lift and launch from that side of the carrier. The lift might need reshaping, while the unused after-deck area would probably have been covered as the flight deck evolved in service. A later response allows that the Royal Navy might have fallen back on a Fairey Gannet derivative, though CVA-01 made an E-2 solution practical enough to remain the likelier choice. A British E-2 fleet would eventually have required re-engining.
