Dry docks, slipways and basins

Draining a dry dock gives maintenance workers access to the underwater hull, while a slipway supports ship construction.

Notes

Slipways provide a place to build ships. A dry dock can be emptied of water for repairs and maintenance. Workers can then reach parts of the hull that would otherwise remain submerged. Wet docks are commonly called basins.
