CCV design freedom versus an available building line

The CCV choice links the supplier's hull design to the space available in the BAE Systems and Babcock building programmes.

Notes

A BAE Systems CCV design is judged unlikely to fit straightforwardly into Babcock's yard, while the Type 26 line is already occupied. Type 83 had been expected to follow Type 26 there. A Babcock option could develop its Type 32 work within a familiar hull family. That route offers continuity but also inherits the hull's size and shape limits. The concern is that the existing hull, although regarded as good, may lack space for the desired CCV functions.
