How extra tonnage could produce a 28-knot Nelson-type battleship

A few thousand additional tons could combine Nelson-class protection with an F3-style hull and machinery arrangement to create a much faster first postwar battleship.

Notes

The economical Nelson design and faster F3 battlecruiser study show what the extra tonnage makes possible. A longer hull provides more machinery space and room for a third shaft while retaining the protected fighting core. Moving the guns into an F3-style arrangement would use the added bow length rather than reproduce the historical Nelson exactly. The resulting design is a plausible 28-knot starting point for a sequence of British fast battleships, not a claim that the historical ships could simply be accelerated without redesign.
