Bonhomme Richard's uncertain prospects after the fire

Was there news about rebuilding Bonhomme Richard?

Despite optimistic public statements, the judgment offered here is that rebuilding was increasingly unlikely.

Optimistic public statements did not persuade Alex Clarke that Bonhomme Richard would return to service. His rebuilding assessment remained an opinion during the developing fire story in July 2020. Scrapping the ship or turning it into a reef was later suggested as a possibility. No final disposal decision was known here.
