The later H-class drawings look convincing at first glance, but local spacing and water flow around the hull raise questions. The bow presents a larger compromise. A ship expected to face the North Atlantic needs volume and seakeeping, while Baltic access and operation impose a different set of constraints. The resulting form reconciles two theatres and cannot be judged only by appearance.

Atlantic and Baltic demands pull the hull apart
The H-class lines look elegant, but their bow and hull form had to reconcile very different Atlantic and Baltic operating conditions.
