A 28-knot alternative to Nelson and Rodney

The proposed alternative is a 35,000-ton capital ship with 16-inch guns and 28-knot speed, using less protection than the historical two-ship Nelson design.

Notes

The design begins with the loss of HMS Tiger and the need to retain a fast element in the fleet. A 28-knot ship offers a G3-influenced compromise between a conventional battleship and a battlecruiser. The game model stays within eight tons of Nelson and Rodney's stated full-load displacement while rearranging the main turrets and placing three triple 6-inch secondary turrets aft. Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts imposes practical limits on the reconstruction. The result is a visual experiment in what modestly reduced protection might buy when Britain can procure several ships instead of two.
