The 350-foot limit made ZRCV impossible

Long-range patrol aircraft gained priority, and a 350-foot limit on new dirigibles made the 897-foot ZRCV design impossible.

Notes

The planned ZRCV would have extended the flying-carrier idea with nine dive bombers and required an airship about 897 feet long. The Roosevelt administration favored long-range maritime patrol aircraft over new naval airships. It also limited new dirigibles to 350 feet, less than half Akron's 785-foot length. That restriction made the proposed successor physically impossible and ended the programme at the policy level.
