Could the X Kiwi design fit a 35,000-ton limit?

The X Kiwi Force design could fit a 35,000-ton treaty limit by redistributing armour, rearranging its secondary battery, and accepting tight machinery tradeoffs.

Question

Could the proposed X Kiwi Force design be built with 1920s technology below 35,000 tons?

Short answer

Probably. Redistributed armour, revised secondary turrets, and a compact superstructure could keep it under 35,000 tons, although the weight margin would remain tight.

Notes

The design appears feasible with 1920s technology, but only with deliberate compromises. Armour could be thinned and spread over more of the ship, while water could contribute to the protection scheme. Moving the secondary turrets inward and rearranging the superstructure and funnel would save weight and improve firing arcs. The resulting broadside could still combine nine 16-inch guns with eight 6-inch guns. Later radar integration would become harder around the altered funnel and superstructure. More machinery power would be the first use for any displacement margin that remained.
