A seven-to-ten Japanese ratio and small capital ships

A larger Japanese allowance opens a speculative design exercise involving three small capital ships.

Notes

Japan wants a seven-to-ten ratio rather than the smaller proportion accepted in the treaty. The proposed alternatives to Japan's actual 315,000-ton allowance are at least 350,000 and approximately 367,500 tons. A design exercise imagines three additional capital ships of about 17,000 tons each. Three Japanese equivalents of Dunkerque would provide one possible answer to those design constraints. This is an invitation to develop a counterfactual, rather than an identified Japanese construction programme.
