Fast battleships alter Mediterranean operations and Denmark Strait

A larger pool of 28-knot capital ships changes where Britain can accept risk and which heavy units can reach time-sensitive operations.

Notes

In the expanded scenario, faster Nelson-derived ships could spend more time on mobile operations beyond fixed choke points such as Gibraltar. More high-speed capital ships would let British commanders accept greater operational risk and bring heavier forces to battles such as Matapan. Additional availability could also produce a different British force at the Denmark Strait. These are possible consequences of a larger pool of ships capable of 28 knots or more. The operational benefit lies in deployable speed across the fleet, which determines how much strength can reach a distant operation in time.
