Why game repair mechanics misrepresent warship damage

Repairs at sea can preserve a ship, but rapid recovery in naval games can distort judgments about whether a disabled opponent still poses a threat.

Notes

Games can let a damaged warship recover fighting capacity far faster than a real crew could restore it. Actual repairs at sea are possible, and repair mechanics can represent some of that work. They cannot mean that a devastated battleship simply regenerates. This distinction matters when judging a disabled ship's remaining threat: a game recovery timer cannot establish what the real ship could still do.
