The Ws carried four 4.7-inch guns and the Zs four 4.5-inch guns. The W fit included Types 272, 291 and 285 radar, with Type 293 replacing Type 272 in the later fit. These ships had grown to roughly the size and tonnage originally intended for the Tribals. Light anti-aircraft outfits varied among ships, with quadruple pom-poms, twin Hazemeyer Bofors and other combinations of Bofors, pom-poms and Oerlikons. Both classes retained eight torpedo tubes in two quadruple launchers.
