Eagle is a new capital ship with nine 16.5-inch guns and twenty inches of armor. The hull is intended to accept 18-inch guns later, so the present armament forms part of a deliberate upgrade path. Four more powerful ships are available at Bombay, giving the regional invasion force a substantial reinforcement. Eagle's design combines heavy protection with the firepower needed to anchor a battle squadron.
