An enlarged Type 45 as a Type 83 starting point

The preference is an enlarged Type 45 with separate launcher capacity for strike weapons and a large layered air-defence magazine.

Question

Would a revived Type 83 be closer to Type 45 with Mark 41 launchers or to an Arleigh Burke?

Short answer

The preference is an enlarged Type 45 with separate launcher capacity for strike weapons and a large layered air-defence magazine.

Notes

The proposed starting point is Type 45, expanded substantially. The suggested fit includes 48 to 72 Mark 41 cells and up to 144 Sylver A50 or A70 cells. ASROC, Tomahawk and SM-3 are assigned to the Mark 41 side, with Aster, CAMM and Aquila among the proposed air-defence weapons. These are aspirational loadouts, including assumed packing and integration options, rather than an approved design or demonstrated launcher compatibility. A larger gun, several 76 mm mounts and close-in weapons complete the concept.
