A rough recollection of the theoretical Batch 4 Type 42 retains a forward Sea Dart launcher and the 4.5-inch gun. It adds a Sea Wolf launcher behind and above the forward Sea Dart launcher, with another above the hangar for a closer defensive layer. Eight Harpoon anti-ship missiles also appear in the proposed arrangement. The combination would have broadened the Type 42's air-defence and anti-ship capabilities while retaining its long-range missile system. The layout remains tentative, based on recollections of published discussions.
