A 12-ship rhythm for escort force readiness

A notional fleet of 12 ships in each escort category provides predictable operational, transit, and refit capacity.

Notes

Buying sufficient numbers creates a dependable rotation instead of maximizing headline capability per hull. The model assigns twelve ships apiece to air defence, anti-submarine warfare, forward presence, and mine-countermeasure or support roles. Four such groups would produce a 48-escort fleet. Roughly sixteen could be operational, sixteen working up or in transit, and sixteen in refit, providing enough ships for credible task groups without assuming every hull is continuously available.
