A longer F3-style hull separates magazines from machinery

Additional hull length supports speed, firing arcs, and better separation of magazines from boilers.

Notes

The preferred British option becomes five fast battleships of roughly 38,800 tons, with an F3-style arrangement and a projected speed of 28-30 knots. Extra displacement permits a longer hull, whose length-to-beam ratio helps support higher speed. The additional length also offers room for longer 16-inch guns and improved firing arcs. Greater separation between magazines reduces their concentration within the ship. More space between boilers and ammunition storage could also reduce heat reaching the magazines.
