A 1918 reconstruction could keep Tiger useful while new designs took shape

Delayed replacement designs and Tiger's age and service condition support treating the 1918 refit as a possible start for rearmament.

Notes

In the first scenario, Tiger's reconstruction could begin with her 1918 refit to buy time while the Admiral class and successor designs remained unsettled. The Royal Navy wanted Courageous and Glorious out of the battle line quickly, increasing the value of a useful fast ship. Tiger had seen hard wartime service, but most of it was in the North Sea with access to home maintenance facilities. Warspite's continued usefulness supplies a comparison: she was launched in November 1913, just before Tiger in December. Commissioning reverses that order, since Tiger entered service in October 1914 and Warspite in March 1915. Age and war service therefore provide little basis by themselves for dismissing Tiger as a reconstruction candidate.
