The proposed armour arrangement might move further toward selective all-or-nothing protection. It retains a thirteen-inch main belt and an eight-inch lower belt, with possible reductions in forward coverage. Two funnels could remain, as in the historical class. The longer hull also offers the possibility of moving one aft 15-inch turret toward a Q position resembling Tiger's arrangement. These are provisional choices for balancing machinery, armament and weight. They do not establish a settled layout.
