Does India still have the large dry docks available during the Second World War?
Short answerSome remain, but others were redeveloped or lost the gates, pumps, and associated facilities needed to function.
NotesSome Indian dry docks remained in use, while others became commercial facilities or were redeveloped. A dock basin alone does not preserve repair capability. Once caissons, pumps, workshops, or surrounding land disappear, substantial reinvestment is needed before the site can serve ships again. Apparently surviving infrastructure can lose its naval function component by component.
