Limiting damage after a missile penetrates the defenses

The proposed battleship would be designed to resist sinking and keep its systems working after damage. Even a successful defense against a saturation attack can let some weapons through. The construction would aim to minimize what those hits destroy. If the ship could no longer operate, getting the crew away safely would remain a design priority.
