Why repeated warship production lowers costs

Building more ships to the same design spreads development and support costs across more hulls.

Notes

Building more ships of the same type can lower the cost of each additional unit. Repeated design changes can interrupt those savings. Research and development have already been completed, while training facilities and support infrastructure already exist. A larger standardised class can also cost less to operate over time. The Arleigh Burke class is offered as an example of this advantage.
