Carrier dimensions and dry-dock fit

Published hull dimensions explain how the carrier's broad flight deck can overhang a dock that accommodates its narrower hull.

Notes

The published dimensions give a 284-metre length, a 39-metre beam at the waterline, and a 73-metre overall beam. Displacement figures vary with the unit used, with about 65,000 tonnes quoted. The widest part of the ship can overhang a dry dock, so the dock does not necessarily need to contain the full flight-deck width within its walls. The quoted draught is 11 metres. Below the flight deck are nine decks, with the hangar occupying the central part of two deck levels.
