Different industrial contributions to shared destroyer systems

Missile, gun, radar, propulsion, and uncrewed-system work supplies the industrial context for a proposed shared development effort.

Notes

The proposed systems partnership draws on different areas of national development. Italy's contribution includes missile work through MBDA Italy and gun technology. Japan brings railguns, electronics, and power systems, while Britain brings gas turbines, radar, electronic warfare, and uncrewed systems. Australian work includes uncrewed vehicles and hypersonic missiles. Pooling this development effort is connected with an aspiration to put ships in the water in the mid-to-late 2030s, conditional on how the project is managed. The systems work is also identified as a possible contribution to AUKUS pillar two.
