The Sea Fury differed from land aircraft modified only after their basic design had been settled. It was always the naval branch of the Fury programme, and it was the version that reached production after the RAF cancelled its own aircraft. Its 1947 performance remained strong when compared with the fighters available to most nations. Carrier requirements therefore belonged to the foundations of the design instead of being later additions.

The Sea Fury was naval from the beginning
Calling the type a navalized Fury reverses its history: the Sea Fury was designed around a naval requirement, while the land-based Fury was the branch that disappeared.
