Norway would require fighters, radar, and coastal defence, while Sweden's mobilisation and industry make a German attack on Sweden unattractive. British submarines and aircraft operating from Norway could threaten the German and Danish coasts through the Skagerrak and Baltic approaches. Beaufighters, Blenheims, Swordfish, and fast coastal craft make the theatre useful for attacking shipping, dockyards, and the Danish straits. Norway's geography also makes deep German bombing difficult because northern bases lie beyond or at the edge of practical Luftwaffe reach if Sweden enforces its airspace.
