Rigging an Age of Sail aircraft carrier

A design thought experiment for preserving a straight flight deck while giving a sailing carrier enough canvas to move.

Question

How could an Age of Sail aircraft carrier carry enough sail without obstructing its flight deck?

Short answer

Use a straight flight deck and cant several sail masts outward at roughly 45 degrees on each side, keeping the centreline clear for aircraft.

Notes

The central design conflict is that conventional masts and rigging would obstruct the flight deck. The proposed solution is a straight axial deck rather than an angled one, with sail masts canted outward from both sides of the hull. Several 45-degree rigs on each side could carry canvas while leaving the centreline clear for take-off and landing. The concept is playful, but it identifies the real naval-architecture problem: propulsion equipment must not intrude into the aircraft operating area. One system's geometry has to accommodate another system's non-negotiable space.
