Russian capital ships for a Black Sea risk fleet

Russian designs are read as an affordable regional fleet: deter stronger opponents, dominate the Black Sea, and preserve access to it.

Notes

The repeated Russian layout of four triple turrets on the centreline is presented as a practical answer to limited money, technology, and strategic reach. The programme drew on Italian and British technology while keeping the same basic arrangement across several classes. These ships were unlikely to meet Japan's battle fleet or Germany's Baltic strength on equal terms, but they could still impose enough risk to complicate an attack. Their more attainable task was to dominate the Black Sea, overmatch the Ottoman fleet, and protect Russian access to maritime routes. Standardized evolution therefore mattered more than novelty because it kept construction within a technological pace Russia could afford and maintain.
