A Royal Navy answer to Japan's Number 13 class

A simulated British response to Japan's Number 13 design tests whether twelve 18-inch guns, 33 knots, and heavy protection can fit within 58,000 tons.

Notes

The Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts challenge puts a 33-knot British answer to Japan's Number 13 design inside a 58,000-ton full-load limit. Drachinifel abandons the battleship hull when the game's machinery weight leaves almost no allowance for weapons and armor, then uses a G3-derived battlecruiser hull capped at 55,500 tons. His design carries the required twelve 18-inch guns, an inclined 14.8-inch belt, a 5-inch deck, and 16-inch turret and barbette armor. Alex Clarke retains an N3-style arrangement with nine main guns and a heavier 17-inch belt, which fails the challenge's gun-count requirement. His turret plates are still only 10.6 inches thick when time expires, and the intended addition of turret armor would also help correct excess weight aft. The nine-gun alternative therefore still requires work on both turret protection and balance.
