Rosyth's Type 31 workload constrains the first CCV

Type 31 construction and launcher installation leave limited room for the proposed CCV, with a tentative first-ship estimate extending into the mid-2030s.

Notes

Rosyth is identified as the quickest plausible production route for the Common Combat Vessel, but its Type 31 work already occupies the yard. Later Type 31s will incorporate Mark 41 launchers, while the first two require subsequent installation work. The schedule estimate assumes that the yard can construct roughly two ships at once and must complete the remaining Type 31 hulls before releasing a slot. After working through possible launch dates, the estimate puts the earliest CCV construction start around 2029, launch around 2033, and entry into service around 2036. Those dates depend on assumptions about the existing programme rather than an announced CCV production schedule. Even on that reasoning, the result would initially be one ship.
