The exercise tests a more heavily armed Queen Elizabeth-style battleship than the Royal Navy built. Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts substitutes 16-inch guns for the proposed 16.5-inch weapons and produces a heavier model than a strictly historical reconstruction would require. The starting model uses extra beam to accommodate the game's components, then reduces beam and draft while checking engine efficiency. Its missing secondary battery is a further departure from a plausible historical ship. Reconstructing an unbuilt design is difficult because the game chiefly supplies equipment based on ships that entered service.
