Would the Type 42 and Type 22 classes be built closer to their Batch 3 versions from the start?

Short answer

No. Some Batch 3 improvements came directly from Falklands experience, although the second batches could develop differently.

Notes

A larger carrier program does not supply knowledge gained during the Falklands War ahead of time. Some changes associated with the historical Batch 3 ships depended on that combat experience. Second-batch ships could evolve closer to the later standard. Neither class is expected to begin with the complete historical Batch 3 specification.
