Project 18 is expected to develop further from Project 15B. Proposed features include integrated electric propulsion and command and flag facilities designed into the destroyers from the outset. Construction is expected alongside the Project 17B frigates. Their Project 17A predecessors, the Nilgiri class, already display the recognizable Indian shaping discussed in the destroyer comparison. That design identity extends across different kinds of Indian warship. Both future classes were still in planning, so their proposed features and construction plans remain provisional.
